narcotics other than alcohol (e.g., cocaine and marijuana) are involved in nearly 18 percent of motor vehicle driver deaths. Other drugs are usually utilized while drinking alcohol. Two thirds of young passengers less than fourteen years of age who passed away in alcohol-related crashes from the years 1997 to 2002 were in the car with the drinking driver; just 32 percent of the kid passengers were properly restrained as the crash occurred.
